After careful consideration, we have decided to postpone the NY city trip until Spring 2012 and to offer a shorter, more affordable trip for our students this year. Several of our band parents have indicated that, due to economic considerations, their students were unable to participate in this year’s planned NY city trip. Part of what makes a band trip an enjoyable and memorable experience is getting to share the adventure with fellow band members. When we had reached the point where a large percentage of the band was unable to participate, we felt it necessary to offer an affordable alternative that would allow greater participation. Those who have made deposits on the NY city trip will be refunded their money; we have not cashed any checks yet, so your check will be returned or can be applied towards the new trip. Those students who participated in the car wash fundraisers will be allowed to use the money earned towards the new trip. We have partnered with a local wholesale bakery to sell delicious, freshly made pies for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays as a fundraiser for the President’s Day trip. There is no middleman involved, so 100% of the profits will stay with the band. Those who were looking forward to visiting New York will still get the chance next year, and now will have 18 months to save money and plan for that trip. More information will be sent home as we finalize the details of our President’s Day trip. We are looking forward to a fun and memorable experience and hope your child will be able to participate.
